MDPE wrapping copper pipe

The external diameter is 25mm. I think Exedon is right I'll have to dig a bit more under the wall of my boundary and see if I can find a connection of MDPE into this copper. From what I can see the copper is not tight around the MDPE it's more of a sleeve.

I think they were assuming, as I did, that it is 15mm copper jammed into 20mm poly. Which is not correct, but sometimes done.

As it is 25mm, it is being used as a sleeve (perhaps for protection or to make it visually obvious. Annoyingly, you will not be able to connect to the poly unless a new connection is made at the main.

It might be useful for you to create an access pit so the muddle can be tidied up at some time.
