They wanna fight? shouldn't we just give them a huge field?
It would serve a purpose, but take it away from family and kids etc?

i would even set up big screens for those that survived, to watch the match...

From speaking to many fellow WestHam fans today.......
The 'real shock' last night was............... supporters taking their children to a game that everyone knows is grief....

Exactly my point.... them morons need to kill each other outside of the confines of a footie match !

No I think your missing the point !
Normally the fighting is ALL about the ground.....fighting before the match........after the match.......rarely during.
In no way at all, would it be so appealing if it was in a field on a tuesday night......

simple solution, any game where there is likely to be violence should be played in a secret location and on a closed pitch..

or better still, if there is continuous problems from a specific club, they should be disbanded by the FA and their players put on the transfer market on the strict understanding that only 1 player from the team is allowed in any other club.. so they split them up..

It's not that simple..........Thousands of fans pay a damn lot of money to support their team. You'd be losing badly needed revenue (in the case of WestHam)......and penalising non-fighting supporters of both sides.

But it's NOT the players the real fans love.......It's the CLUB coljack ......Disbanding a club under ANY circumstances is quite simply wrong......

its nothing to do with football we've been rivals will millwall since the 70's
and thats never going to change
we clashed with them when the icf where around and they never forgave
us over a killing of one of their surporters on the train.

Notice how The Bill didn`t cope, yet they kicked ass @ that climate camp. And that newspaper seller got a thump with a riot shield-later died.

Football hooliganism has been a part of English Football for many years, we can look back to 1970/80s when it was big news.
Just because it doesn't hit the headlines as often as it did back then, doesn't mean it ever went away because it didn't.
The police stings of the 1980s, did manage to help jail some of the ring leaders amongst the firms of the day and some hefty sentences were given out.
The advent of CCTV made it a little harder for the hooligan not to be spotted on a busy match day in areas around the city and grounds.

So pre-arranged location were and still are chosen between rival firms so they can have a ding-dong.

These firms are not made up working class uneducated people they are made up of varying degrees of Intelligence and class.

As much as people may believe that this minority of people are not football fans, they are so wrong, they live and breath football they love their club and the game but also have a desire to fight for their club in streets.

Behind closed doors matches, wouldn't resolve the problem as these people don't need a match to arrange a scuffle.

I don't know the answer, but don't think it ever went away.

It never went away still goes on only on smaller scale. I am a Man City fan (have been for over 30 years not jumping on bandwagon)

I attend games as often as I can an often sit in with opposing fans if only way of getting a ticket (ie going to Crystal Palace v City tonight and sitting with Palace fans)

I also used to have a season ticket at Ibrox

Most fans are fine and enjoy supporting their team but you will always get idiots and every team has them.

IMO these people are thugs 7 days a week and not just 3-5 on a Saturday or Tuesday evening like this week The FA ect calling for bans but most of these fights take place outside the ground or in town centres so banning doesn't help. Make them report to a police station during a game or things like that this may help clamp it down during games

Listening on the radio that night, one or two people who phoned up said the same thing that the millwall fans were not allowed into the ground at their end by mounted police but forced to march around nigh on the whole ground, and when they turned the corner into green street they were confronted by a massive crowd of rivals, They were saying that little or no police presence was there after being moved on leaving them feeling vunerable as they walked the streets.
