Hi, I am about to replace all my power socket outlets and wall light switches with MK, a well known and trusted brand. I was about to purchase from the long established MK Logic Plus range, though browsing the recent screwfix catalogue I noticed a new range called MK Essentials which is marketed as "designed for smaller budgets".

I am leaning towards the newer MK Essentials range, though before proceeding, I am requesting some some feedback from anyone on the forum who have used both. Please share your point of view in terms of features, installation ease, manufacturing quality, appearance and your preference of the two! Many thanks!

I like MK stuff but have not fitted any essentials. I personally dont like the look of them with the clip on surround. unless the wall is exactly flat i bet the surround will look "squint" Last ones I fitted were click scolmore from toolstation, i rate them as good as mk and a very nice feature of the switches is the ability to have different switch types on one plate (up to six)

At one time MK were at the top end of accessories, but myself and other forum members have noticed a lack of quality over recent years, I use Hager as standard now

MK Logic items look stylish from the front, but they are quite poor really; with small, awkwardly positioned terminals that have cheap screws. I prefer Crabtree accessories.

What strikes me is that at least at screwfix the "MK essentials" stuff seems to be about the same price (some items a little cheaper, some a little more expensive) as the traditional "logic plus".

In my opinion the 'MK essentials' look awful, they looks like the cheap tat you can buy from ebay straight from China. I would guess they're not very good quality as even Logic Plus range isn't what it used to be, I've seen light switches fail prematurely and the screws used in the sockets were very poor recently (I think they've fixed that issue now though).

I advise using Hager accessories myself.

I've never noticed this, in fact MK usually accept the largest overall CSA of conductors from any that I've seen
