Depends who says it. Term of endearment to some. Many words have been high jacked by lefty ****s , such as gay, queer, faggot etc so they can brand people racist, homophobic or whatever pious bandwagon they are on at the moment.
So you think that when someone calls another person a faggot, you think he's calling him a seasoned pork meatball?

The best definition I could find of the word in question.

"A word that everyone else is afraid to define except in utter seriousness, for fear of being branded a rascist, in total ignorance of the colloquial usage of the word, its characterization in popular culture, and the populations of people it is used most by."

Please explain.
Supposedly, you won't see my response:
Suppose I use that term to name my dog. If I stood in the middle of the park calling my dog.................
Whatever society around you thinks about it, the word ****** stems from a time where it was an insanely racist term. It was used to describe people with a black skin, because they weren't considered 'human'.

So, Yes. You're being racist for using the word. You might not mean it in a racist way, but there's absolutely nothing non-racist about that word.

Was it? Or the best definition that suits your agenda.

You will find many references to the word but most come down to the fact that it is extremely racist and offensive in its origins. And it still is.

Well done for your exhaustive search though EFLI.(y)

From what I can find, spelled with an 'er' is pretty much still a no-go. But with an 'a', depends on who says it as you say..

Quite like the definition on urban dictionary;

Tupac best defined the distinction between the two.

****ER- a black man with a slavery chain around his neck.

****A- a black man with a gold chain on his neck.

I like that folk reclaim words, takes the power out of them. I think gay has also now been reclaimed :)
Interesting stuff really, shame that some folk can't just have a conversation about it without being branded racists.

A black person can insult another black person by using the term, yes. It is a racial slur in terms of (supposed) racial superiority over another (lesser) black person.
Boyo.
Is it? Where did you get that from? Never heard of those terms before.

Please explain how a superior black man is racially slurring a lesser black man.

There are degrees of black. If you understand this statement...You ain’t black enough; why you got pretty hair—your momma or daddy white?" then you will understand what I mean.

If you don't then you are either very naïve, very sheltered or blind.

There are other instances but I'm off oot. Catch up tomorrow.

This article is about the word and its history. For the colloquial variant, see *****. For other uses, see ****** (disambiguation).
In the English language, the word "******" is an ethnic slur,

There is no difference.
Except for those who desperately grasp at any reason to argue that there is.

If you feel the need to use either word, as someone said, think of another word, you won't explode by not using it!
