Mountain biking

Surely you gotta know how to fix a puncture on the go?
I wasn't on the go I was at home.

Evans fix punctures free. They charge £20 per tye to convert from tube to tubeless.

So i take it to them to fix my puncture but they convert to Tubeless instead for free. Saving me 40 squid ♥️ ✨

Just an FYI - I never knew this until I started providing cycle maintenance courses. What everyone calls ‘tubed' tyres are in fact 'clincher' tyres because they clinch onto the rim. Tubeless tyres are just that, tyres that are tubeless but true tubular tyres are basically a combined inflatable tube with tread on it and they are glued in place onto the rim. Takes hours for the glue to go off too. Normally only used by pro road-racers.

Too technical mottie.
Please don't fall into crazy arguments of how things are known as and how they are really called.
Fuse boxes argument springs to mind...

Went down a flight of steps the other day, left foot slipped off the pedal leading to my coccyx bouncing on the end of the saddle for the bottom half of the flight about half a dozen steps, a bit painful now, I should know better really at my age but gotta keep up with the boy!:)

@johnny2007

You said you plan your trips the night before. Have you an app or a map that gives you off road routs. Ive been caught out a timebor two.
If you look online you'll find local trails and walking paths that stretch for many miles.
I say walking paths because they keep you mostly off road, 90%+ of the times.
In London we have the London loop and the local trails (hillingdon trail for example)
Have a look at one of the files on this page to get an idea.

I download and print the files and go through the notes marking the main points on the map.
I also look at google maps at the same time to get an idea or where I will be in relation to main roads, buildings, etc.
Sometimes, when I have had a couple of hard days and don't fancy pushing too hard, I just pick a spot, go with the bike in the car and then start riding.
I've found very good spots of nature like this, but also I had some trouble with parks where bikes are not allowed, so waste of a trip.
The royal parks are the worst for that (windsor park, Virginia waters).
The rangers are on bikes but they stop you from riding and kick you out.
You can only cycle in the tarmac which is full of pedestrians.
There's a dedicated mountain bike trail outside slough, stretching for 32 miles.
Worth a visit if you're passing by.

This is what I'm finding. Some lovely trails that I then get told NO BIKES. or start off ok but find myself in a bit of cover as the trail is ok for a walk but a little to difficult for a bigish heavy bike.

My Mate lives in Windsor so may look into the Slough trail

Seems to have gone all quiet on the mountain biking thread. Has it gone the same way as the sourdough and coffee machine threads? :ROFLMAO:

I come off my bike the other week. Hurt my shoulder and ribs. I think i might get back at it on Sunday.

At tte moment busy watching sky news and the attacks on Tel Aviv.

Well sorry to steal your thunder Elsa but I too have come off, seems my antics have have caught up with me  :D, came off the bike Sunday before last, ironically we'd just finished the red route at our local Forrest Park (Haldon) and after that were gonna do a few laps of the little skills track but on the first jump of the track (on the upslope) my front tyre burst and then I body slammed into the upslope of the second jump, taxi ride to A&E with a broken wrist FFS, amongst other things. A bit of a logistical nightmare as had to leave the car/bikes behind and get a cab to home as I had the boy with me and then me onto hospital and a parking ticket to boot (successfully appealed against though so screw Devon County Council)! Today I had surgery to open up my wrist and realign everything and have a plate screwed in, my whole arm is completely anesthetised atm so the aching will return tomorrow, photo of my classy cast just before the surgery today. :D

I feel for you, brother.
I came off my bike a few weeks ago and fortunately landed on my tight, lots of meat there.
Despite that, I think I cracked a couple of ribs, badly bruised my shin and tight.
A few days later the bruising was horrendous.
Weeks later and my shin is still hurting a little.
Worst thing was that it happened 20 km from home and I had no choice rather than ride the bike.
Then I tried to hide the injuries from the boss, but she spotted the ice pack immediately as she entered her kingdom.
I managed to downplay it enough to retain the right to ride  :cool:
