OMG First time out for 6 weeeks

had an accident at work, fractured arm, broken rib and punctured / torn liver
ahh - when you mentioned time for liver to recover I thought you must have drunk yourself into oblivion

so tell us about your accident - fell out of basket after an afternoon session ?

Just tried to work out with my 25kg dumbbells, I couldn't do it so going to just build up with my 10kg for now. I was iin too much pain and going to fast. I have to come to terms with my injuries and this isn't going to be a quick fix so I am deflated now.
Do more with less

I have been working on a new motorway link for 18 months or so now. We are on the final stages and I was working on a large roundabout which is still under construction, I was fitting the flood lights at 20 metres and needed to get a socket set from my van, I came down and to save time I didnt dock my basket as I was going straight back up. I stepped out of my basket and didn't bother to tether my harness fall arrest lanyard to my harness carabina as once again couldn't be bothered as going straight back up. as I stepped out of my bucket my lanyard snagged on my tehering hook in my basket and then released causing me to exit my basket head first. I grabbed my basket door to try to steady myself and this flipped me onto my back, I fell into a 2 metre service trench that had been prepped with its first layer of concrete at its base with rebar sticking out all over the place ready for the second pour. I landed rather awkwardly having fell about 2 metres and a rebar broke my rib and fractured my arm but the worse was a rebar tore my liver. All my own fault and I received a dressing down from my gaffer over it but because of my injuries they just gave me a warning and took some of the blame as the job I was doing shouldnt have gone ahead untill the service trench was finished and back filled. The hospital said I had a lucky escape but I have had worse injuries in the past so it didn't register with me as serious. I am recovering but my fitness is no where near my usual levels.

OMG

Do you still have that giff ? I remember it from the CC. That was some weight!!

I probably have but don't normally post stuff like that. It was that Dan guy saying he benched 200kg but couldn't remember when. He was a big guy but a right sack of wine lol. I haven't trained hardly for a couple of years now. My weights were down 25/30% last time I had a go a few months back. I gave my heavy bag to a younger mate for his MMA . I fookin nearly fell over carrying it out to his van.

You only have to look at my Thai holiday pic I posted of me to wonder how I am struggling with 10kg dumbbells. Pressing 200kg is not impressive to me as I am more into reps and pushing myself and developing myself rather than simply aiming to bench press a weight. A mate I train with is into heavy weights and pure lifting, that's not for me and is a different discipline.

I used to swap things about a bit. I'd do low weight high rep for a couple of months then go back to 6-8 on beach muscles. Singles, doubles and triples on compound stuff. Your right about the difference. 100 rep flat bench is so different from say triple oly squats yet both get you blowing. I'd say light is healthier and more beneficial long term.

Exactly, it works for me.
