OMG I had a near miss with an ebay scammer

Sold a guitar 2 weeks ago, wont say the amount involved but it was an expensive guitar. I got the email from ebay to say it had cleared and the funds had been paid so ok to post. I posted it parcell force 24hr and tracked. It got delivered and proof of delivery was sent. Out of the blue today I got sent a message from ebay stating a claim had been opened and the buyer emailed me to say he still hasnt received the guitar... I sent him the tracking details and the proof photograph of him stood at his door with the parcel.. He said it wasnt him and that wasnt his address.

after been on the chat thing with ebay for an hour and sending messages to the buyer, He finally came back with he recognised the address and person with the guitar and it was his neighbour.

Ebay was telling me to resolve it and if not then they would simply take the money from me. !!!!!! I got his message through ebay so they can see he has now got it. This was a blatant scam attempt

I said to the ebay agent, you wouldnt wait two weeks without saying something about not receiving something of that value. They agreed with me and looked into the tracking info and saw it was delivered, then all of the sudden he realised it was next door to him.. Yeah righto.

If he was scamming you, he'd have denied the photo was of his neighbours, popped round collected the guitar and then got his money back leaving you to chase RM for the insurance.

The most common scam is selling used PCs which magically arrive with all the internals removed.

Maybe he was trying to 'string' you along, or 'plucking' at your heart strings?

I thought that, but he didnt realise that I could show the photo, it is still on the parcel force proof of delivery under the tracking number
