My front door step is approx one foot high three feet across and two feet deep, faced with quarry tiles. Some of the tiles at the front were broken/missing. They were ninety years old so matching proved problematic. I have removed the remains of the broken tiles and levelled off the step using soft absorbent bricks cut to size in place of the quarry tiles. I intend waterproofing the bricks with Sandtex microseal paint then coating the whole lot with Rustins anti-slip tile paint. The doorstep is low traffic. What could possibly go wrong? It doesn't have to last long, just longer than me.
