Opinion On Legality of Lockdown

I'm not the only one.

High Court Judges agree this lockdown is Ultra Vires.

BTW, don't rate TR. You're wrong there, matey!
And the anti police sentiment?....Laws are made...People break them...Police do their job...Then it is the fault of the police...How does that work?? If people did not speed, break lockdown laws,,rob houses,, shoplift...Cops would have more time to catch """proper criminals""..That copper fining you for wandering in the park could be catching the burglar or speeding motorist...He cannot be every where at once.Stop at home..Simples.

One of the principles of policing is that they are simply members of the public in a uniform.

They are there to enforce laws. Pure and simple. In regard to the lockdown, the police have had much stick for trying to enforce many things, amongst them the PM's speech, which is not the law. They have also tried to enforce their own ideas about what the public should or shouldn't be doing.

We have even heard a Chief Constable telling the nation that they will be checking shoppers' bags and baskets to ensure shopping is "essential" (not a term in the CV regs 2020), setting up roadblocks and asking people to stop and account for their movements (there are no powers to do this). Police have been fining people for going out more than once to exercise (nothing in the regs prevents this). People have been arrested for (shock horror) sitting on a park bench.

Damn right I'm anti police when they act above the law. Damn right. Do you think that's the way forward? If members of the public do not put up resistance against this unlawful behaviour, it will continue and may even get worse.

Do you feel the police have been acting in a lawful measured manner in regard to lockdown and that their actions are perfectly acceptable?

Or can you accept that they have acted outside the law?

People like you give the police stick no matter what...You seem to think you can decide which laws you can break and which laws should be policed..Tiz not your decision. All you need do is behave.

Told..every day...1 period of exercise...No sitting in the park.

Lol...Always the same arguments....Speeding etc..People die but they are not ""proper criminals""
If the "law" wasn't that stupid in the first place, "speeders" wouldn't become criminals.
In London (Inside M25) they've set up 20mph limits on dual carriageways and large country roads.
Police hides to catch the many "criminals" doing 24mph.
Seriously, I don't know you, but I can stop a car in 6 foot at 20mph and I don't drive brand new super safe vehicles.
Those limits are solely designed to punish motorists and milk them.
Even their pollution argument is weak and totally wrong.
My automatic at 20mph won't engage the 3rd gear, so it goes at 1500rpm for longer hence polluting more if i was doing 30mph (1300rpm for shorter period in 3rd or even 4th gear)
It's all a scam to milk law abiding citizens.
Mind you, I was never caught speeding because I am very careful, so I have no axe to grind.

""" police enthusiasm for oppressing the public""..
""Blank cheque book of oppression"""...""Terrorising the public"".."worst affront to civil liberties ever""
"""Deliberately instilled fear in population.""
"False imprisonment of entire population..""Proper scary Nonsense.
""Totalatarian police state...we are in one..."""
Holy shyt what crap. The govt and NHS in cahoots to botch the figures and oppress us.....Crazier than David Icke.

Don't be silly. You don't know me.

I am actually a very law-abiding person. I pinched a ha'penny chew when I was 8 after being dared by a mate. And I have had 5 speeding fines over nearly 30 years. But that's all. I hold a current DBS and have held CRB's for work.

Why do you think I pick and choose which laws I can break? I don't. I know it's not my decision. It's not supposed to be the police's decision, either.

The laws are there to be kept to by the public and enforced by the police. But they can't decide something is a law when it is not.

DP: I don't believe you answered my questions....

By the politicians. BUT THAT IS NOT THE LAW!!!!!!! The police have to enforce the law.

If you think it's OK for the police to decide whether they think the public are doing something wrong, that is an EXTREMELY slippery slope.

In general.Yes...Without doubt mistakes made
Is it acceptable to make these "mistakes"?
I think this is where you and I differ.
The law is very simple and clear.
It should not be misinterpreted or mixed up with a load of verbal from politicians' mouths.
