Panic buying

Quite a lot of our order didn’t arrive on the weekly shopping delivery so today I went to the smaller express supermarkets. Got most of what I wanted. 3 tins chopped tomatoes, 2 packs minced beef, 1 pack diced beef, 2 packs chicken thighs, 2 packs strong white bread flour, pack of parsnips and some weetabix. Still no pasta or rice though. The Co-Op had bog rolls but we have plenty of them as I buy in bulk for my workshop.

I bought 4, yes a whole 4 cans of vegetable soup in Sainsburys today. I dont loke vetetable soup, so ill stick with the gin.

Went to tesco last night at 11pm - thinking beat the silly people, plus they restock at night. The place was packed with people - and empty shelves everywhere. Other than sausages, couldn't buy any fresh meat (sorry kitten, no chicken for you!), no pasta, bread, flour, bog roll, bleach, washing up liquid, no coke/water, eggs - and so much more. It was actually amusing it was so bad. People are numpties hey? Am looking forward to when this is all over...

I went to Tescos at 6.30am this morning, to get stuff for my MIL

Same thing, hardly anything. I did get 1 pack of loo roll.. They had 2 full pallets, I went past the aisle 5 mins later -all gone.

Try the smaller shops, on Sunday mine still had most things.

Time we stopped calling it Panic Buying. It's just buying now. The food shops can stay open, but as more people go into isolation, the whole supply network suffers and shops cannot put stuff back on the shelf. And don't forget, 50% of our food comes from the European mainland, so if the borders close we'll be in real trouble.

My wife has been out several times and found she can't buy what we currently need let alone stock. Shops are always packed and things disappear rapidly. Many people go in pick up a basket and then put it back empty having bought nothing. Clearly they must have assumed this in the latest model.

Each time anyone does this they increase there chances of exposure. We hope to get some food for the dog tomorrow from a place that just stocks dog food. She eats duck and potato - dried food. Maybe we will have to as well.

I haven't yet, but do intend on planting some potatoes and sowing some seeds for other veg soon ...

Although, things should settle soon ... all those that stock piled will start eating their food and forget to go shopping, leaving tonnes of fresh produce rotting on the shelves.

Yep, here too. Tbh, I'm actually going between laughing and really peed off over people's selfishness and greed. I never hoard, only buy what I need for meals every few days and I can't now get anything of any use.

A friend told her neighbour in passing that she was down to 2 toilet rolls yesterday. She is a family of 3 and a child minder as her day job. The other neighbour, a single woman living alone smugly said she had 48 packets of toilet roll. Did she offer her neighbour any? No, of course not. Sigh.
