paving slabs for drive

What thickness paving slabs should I use for a driveway?

Currently the area has two "tracks" of plain 3x2 paving slabs with rough ground in between. I need to dig down a few inches to get the drive to the right level for my car (with its long, low front overhang which currently scrapes the road as I reverse in).

I want to pave the whole area, what sort of base should I provide for the slabs?

Are all paving slabs of the same thickness the same strength also? Or do I need a particular type of slab? I'm after something a bit more fancy than plain concrete slabs.

Normally flags are 50mm deep this will do for your drive, there are number of ways that you can form your sub-base, and the flag will normally reach something like 50 newtons and finishes can vary too.

That site has given me some ideas! Such as using standard block paviers in between 2x2 slabs. Something to think about.
