petrol prices

Remember in the states quiet a few years ago, cant remember if it was Tennesse or Mississipi, went to fill the SUV up, I said to brother inlaw, "shall I put about $80 in". "Oh yeah" he said, " put 80 bucks in and its yours".
Was 60 odd cents a gallon, worked out around £14 I think. Though I must say I have noticed the increase now, but they live near Niagra now.

Over there I'll bet they're cursing the 3-dollar gallon now!!!

Well, $3.05 = £1.99 now the pound has fallen a bit. With a US gallon being much smaller than our manly imperial gallon, that works out to...

52.5p a litre

Personally I thought it would be cheaper than that, 52.5p a litre doesn't sound insanely cheap to me! Plus isn't diesel cheaper than petrol in the US anyway? Perhaps the days of V8s and driving to get to the end of the road will end, even in the States

That's mad!

It's the other way round here..we live half a mile from our village centre but nearly always walk.

Unless we can't carry home what we're buying....

Does the price take into account the US gal is smaller than a UK one? Plus isn't sales tax on top of the price shown??

so whilst it is cheaper their cars are far less frugal which means their spend is the same as us (as an average..)

Cheers

Richard
