plumbers mate vs silicone basin waste install

do you recommend to use plumbers mate vs silicone for the install of a bathroom waste. i've got a sprung slotted wasted.

if you do recommend the plumbers mate do i need to buy extra / different washers

We tend to use the polymer type adhesive/sealants for wastes i.e. Stixall, Gorilla grip, CT1, Sticks like S**T etc.

We used to use mait back in the day.

Yes. In spte of the strength of polymer adhesives, they are no match for a large pair of Stillsons or a strong wrist.
