plumbers mate vs silicone basin waste install

Hi all

do you recommend to use plumbers mate vs silicone for the install of a bathroom waste. i've got a sprung slotted wasted.

if you do recommend the plumbers mate do i need to buy extra / different washers

We tend to use the polymer type adhesive/sealants for wastes i.e. Stixall, Gorilla grip, CT1, Sticks like S**T etc.

We used to use mait back in the day.
