Pull cord reposition

Sorted. The pull cord is about 1 meter in from the door. There is only very minor risk of the water blown in. There is no water risk to the switch itself.

You started off asking about a ring screw and it looks like you ended up with a cable clip. Let’s hope that nail holds.

I'm confused.

You didn't mention water at the beginning of the thread.

It was about the door catching the cord.

with respect it was suggested to him

I often see cable clips used on architraves when the door is close to the wall.

One of the houses that I am currently working in has a clipped pull cord in the bathroom. The cord is at least 10 years old.

With respect to fraying and cable clips, that is largely a function of the angles involved. Yes, an eyelet would be better.

There was no water issue. Pull cord switch used by the house builder presumably because there was water risk from blown in rain.

I was aware of the cord wear from friction. This was not considered a problem because the garage light was only subject to very light use. In the worst case a new china cord is 60p in today's money. But, I don't foresee wear being an issue.

The cord has been upgraded with a printed handle. The reason the door caught the cord was because of natural wind or wind generated by the door opening. A heavier handle plus a pin-down will fix the problem for good.

Can’t think why you didn’t just move the garage door.
Oh that's easy,

if the door was on the next wall

opening it wouldn't be any benefit

as there would be a brick wall across it

and secondly the water would get in that 6ft by 6ft gap

A bit of string is even less.

If you printed it, was it worth the aggro given how cheaply you could buy a no-name chrome plated Chinesium socket, for example?

If you paid to have it printed was it worth it, ditto?

Took 1 hour of electricity with 20% density of internal honeycomb structure. It's pretty strong for a partial hollow object. It took about 3 meters of china petg, with 100% genuine chinesium built-in. When things are exactly what I want, they are worth every penny.

Not sure why you are suggesting a chrome effect socket. This is a pull cord project. DIY manufacturing has the benefit of no need to wait for delivery or the hassle of dialing in the credit card number.
