No the firm told her to sort it out herself with her tax advisorsWhen I bought my house the solicitors worked out my stamp duty and added it to their fees, I just assumed they got it right, did she do the same?
Yes we do the firm told her to sort any tax owed out herself with her tax advisorsProbably, but they say it was all based on the information she gave them.
So, they may have asked her if any child had a house in trust. And she might have said yes, but she had been advised it didn't count for second home purposes.
But we don't know exactly what they asked her.

Managing director Joanna Verrico said: 'We acted for Ms Rayner when she purchased the flat in Hove. We did not and never have given tax or trust advice. It's something we always refer our clients to an accountant or tax expert for.
'The stamp duty for the Hove flat was calculated using HMRC's own online calculator based on the figures and the information provided by Ms Rayner.
'That's what we used and it told us we had to pay £30,000 based on the information provided to us. We believe that we did everything correctly and in good faith. Everything was exactly as it should be.'
Forget it - she's gone ! Tomorrow.I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I've just been reading again what they said.
They say that they calculated and paid the stamp duty. But based on the information provided by Rayner.
Initial statement from them I read didn't mention they had paid it just said that they tell people to get their own tax advice.I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I've just been reading again what they said.
