Religion? how many decades has it got?

religion or group beliefs will continue for ever
they will be ever evolving no one group will ever have dominance other than in small areas [in world terms]
religion as we know it will evolve with less central control as thought and communication will dictate what people accept

Australia says NO - Second time she has done this!
Australian Prime Minister does it again!!

This woman should be appointed Queen of the World.. Truer words have never been spoken.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard- Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. '

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society ... Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE''
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves in UK , SA, Canada & USA , WE will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

Strong people don't need religion, only the weak headed easily led ones do.

Wotan
Very judgemental and very wrong.

I am a pretty neutral kinda guy but accept what other choose to do with their lives and consider myself (willfully) fit. But if i was to suffer a catastrophe in my life i could not say one way or another how this would effect my way of thinking spiritually.

Similarly, if i was born and brought up in a world where everyone believed then i would be inclined to do the same. It is difficult for us to imagine what it is like to grow up in a strict Muslim nation.

If this argument is about scientific advances quashing anything spiritual, then do the same people believe that advances in science will eventually replace all emotions like love for instance?

Me thinks that it won't. So long as we have a hole up are ass then we will have emotion and spirituality.

I pity people who have a lack of empathy and consider them social *******. Personality vacuum also springs to mind.

Have you just outed yourself noseall? A strange place to do such a thing, people on here can be very harsh, but good for you and good luck !

The Arab summer of love will happen. Maybe not in my lifetime but it will happen. Islamists; you have been warned. Adapt or die! :!: :!: :!:

I used to think that teaching people how to read would cripple fruitcake religious nutters getting into positions of power. But then look at the USA.

But the hope would be that as education spreads through the muslim world then they would become as sensible and intelligent as the majority of Europeans. Which is one of the reasons the people in power in fruitcake Islamic States don't want to educate the masses.

What happened to the muslim world? up till a thousand year's ago they were neck and neck with the west,we moved on,they didn't!

In many ways they were ahead. Much of the knowledge of the ancient world was lost during the Dark Ages - and the Romans didn't help much when they burnt the library at Alexandria.   If the history books are correct, it was Muslim scholars who passed on the wisdom of the Greeks, Egyptians and others until the rest of us caught up again.

So the real question should be, why are they behind now? I suggest that they're behind for the same reason that the Southern European states - who lead the renaissance - were eventually overtaken by us Northerners: They let dogma get in the way discovery and power go to their heads. The Catholic Church made a big mistake with Galileo and it cost them dear.

But if we were visited by aliens from another galaxy, I think it would wipe out religion straight away.

Andy

Yes. People would at last see the truth.

What truth would that be? Don't be shy, spill the beans. We all want to hear it.

That 'god' (and his angels) was an alien visitor who advanced our civilisation by performing scientific actions that were seen as miracles by our ancestors.

It's at least as believable as the Christian version of events.

Yes, that's what we need here. She seems to be as strong, and as willing to stand up for her people against opposition, as was Maggie.

Certainly not. Religion and emotions (and social values for that matter) are quite different things.

I am an atheist, yet I believe I have more 'Christian values' than many 'Christians' I have met.
