Riello RDB Oil Leak

Remove the burner, it's only one nut at the top of the flange. If the burner has been dry for a period, I would suspect that the pump shaft seal has failed on recommissioning. If the leak is around the pump/motor join, this is where the problem is.

I came across this while trying to solve a similar leak.
The boiler has periodically smelt, then not noticed for a while.
I've just had the tank filled, and presumably the increased pressure of oil has caused it to smell, and leak.
It appeared to come from the union of the flexible pipe to the pump, but tightening didn't help.
Then tissue test seemed to indicate that the pump cover was leaking, but a minute tightening of the 4 allen screws didn't help either.
I undid the single nut, and pulled the burner unit out, and discovered that the leak was coming from the solenoid valve stem.
Having read that as it is recessed, I couldn't use an ordinary spanner, I searched around, found an old box spanner...but it was too long! Grrr.
Tried a 15mm ring spanner, and it had enough grip to easily undo the stem (it was very loose, hence the leak). So I've used the same spanner to tighten it....The leak has stopped,
But will it work its way loose again....?
