Tides are primarily caused by the moon and the sun. They do not change year to year. They also move mostly left to right (flood) and right to left (ebb) in the channel. They only briefly head south on the turn.
At the shortest point the crossing is approx 18 Nm at the preferred crossing point it’s around 22 Nm.
At an avg SoG of 4-5kts we have a crossing time of 5~6 hours. Assuming you were completely clueless and picked the worse possible time to cross your crossing would be impacted by 1-2 hours.
There are no scenarios where we have a “bad” tide year or a “good” tide year which might impact the numbers.
