,A statue of Mikhaill Kalashnikov , inventor of the AK47 assault rifle , which has become
one of the best known Russian brands

Military experts (?) say the AK 47 has killed more people than all other modern weapons put together.

Now Wannabe or JohnD will be along to correct you, and tell you that guns don't kill people, it's people that use guns to kill other people. Just thought I'd save them the trouble.

Kalashnikov died in 2013 (94) afaik he made very little money out of his invention ??

Un-like the bloke who invented the assault rifle used by the USA armed forces.

And that's the difference between the capitalist and socialist system. They both do the same job, but one gets paid for it.

Weapons design is quite lucrative in the Western world, especially those contracted by the military.

The simplicity, reliability and robustness of the Kalashnikov design (much copied) is what makes the weapon so effective. A bit like the T34.

"quantity has a quality all its own...."

I am along to correct you for your attempt at maligning me.
You will notice that at least I have taken the trouble to refute your allegation with proof that I have never said anything of the sort. It is also evident that neither has Noseall or JohnD:
Guns don't kill people, people kill people

Guns don't kill people, rappers do.

Um, bullets don't kill people. Guns don't kill people.

”norcon” said:
Legal or unlegal guns don't kill.
People kill,

Guns don't kill people, people do...

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Now perhaps you will be good enough to retract your allegation?
Oh silly me, you have proven time and time again that you lack the decency to do so.
Not only will you not admit your mistake, you will probably continue to lay false allegations.

with proof that I have never said anything of the sort.

Knew you had a number of previous user names as you've been banned so many times for your unmannerly behaviour but that list just takes the biccy.

Looks like the statue paid homage to a German machine gun too.

Oh those Russians.

We should have one to Albert Vickers.

Kalashnikov said that pride in his invention was mixed with the pain of seeing it used by criminals and child soldiers.

incidentally there is an Antique shop not far from here , that has a polished up/ restored WW2 Russian machine gun for sale.

£1800 they want for it. It has been converted so that it cannot fire / all certificated etc , but u still need some type of fire arms licence to purchase it ??

there is an EU-wide standard for the lengths that weapons have to be decommissioned. You have to get a certificate from the Proof House for each weapon. It goes with the gun, not the owner. If you examine it you will probably find that sections and components have been cut out, slit, welded together, or blocked up, and possibly hardened parts have been heat-treated to weaken them. This is often done in a way so the casing or woodwork conceals the damage. The standard has got more severe over time.

I believe the theory is that the damage is such that it would be easier for a skilled gunsmith or amateur bodger to make a new gun than to repair the deactivated one, and there are probably no firing parts remaining in usable condition. It is now a assembly of scrap metal in the shape of a gun.

Its a tri pod type machine gun , with the round cylindrical amo wat sit that sits on the top ? it has been all been highly polished

all the relevant certs are with it (so they say)

Were you sufficiently interested to enquire?
Would there be room for it in a ground floor flat?
