I spent hours today trying to find how to back my S3 mini. It is going to the 'menders', I want to back everything. I find things that should do even the apps, 'F All', seems to work. Who uses what

Put your contacts on Google.

Then you can sync your phone when you get it back and they will drop back down onto the phone.

Similarly, if you've bought all your apps and music on Google Play, they can be redownloaded.

Never done this, but can you transfer anything onto the SD card?

If you do a (or your phone is factory reset), it will be returned to the EXACT state it was when you first got it out of the box in the shop.

What else are you worried about losing?

You rooting it?

There won't be any warranty issues when you send it back for "mending"?

Yes read about the warranty issue, seems silly to me that you cant make a complete copy.
Anyway now backed it to KIES, & we reinstall apps from google, I can see them all there that I have, they are all free ones.

Did you manage to set up your contacts on Google?
I don't know, I did a complete back up to pc using 'Samsung Kies'.
As I had not had phone long all my contact are still on pc from my Nokia. Whilst my Samsung is away, I have gone back to Nokia, it works well indoors (my Samsung issue is it wont work at home).

Isn't that more of an issue for the carrier?

Who is it?
Got Samsung back, it works better than it did whilst indoors, not as good as the Nokia though.
Its a phone issue not carrier.

Anyway, when I got my phone back & signed into my google account all my apps downloaded again. I then did restore from the Samsung Kies.
I got everything back except my contacts after about an hour I got them back via internet, but they were all duplicated. There is an option within Kies to edit the contacts. So now all is well & back to how I was before it went to the repairers.

Just whish it would work at home.

Have you been back in touch with Sammy to tell them their repair has not been a complete success?

Only got phone back yesterday, that is on my list of 'todo', though

Well my phone went to Vodafone repair, Samsung had no record of it.
I sent it back to Samsung, had a call from them today, I had to call back using my OLD Nokia. Samsung say there is no fault, I said I am calling from my old Nokia, I cant make any calls at home on Samsung.
They will get the engineer to have another look, 2 to 4 days, when I ran a repair center it would have gone back in at the top of the pile.

I'm sorry this is slightly off-topic, but Samsung are not my favourite company at the moment.

I have an American-style fridge-freezer that has developed a fault. Basically, although 'frost free' it has iced up, the water dispenser is not working and the temperature has gone up.

There are several web sites that describe this common problem and explain it as being due to a faulty design, yet Samsung insist that because it is now three and a half years old they can do nothing about it.

I have taken out an insurance scheme and the engineer came today. He replaced the faulty components exactly as described on various web pages. In my opinion, if the thing was of poor design it should be corrected by Samsung free of charge.

My Samsung american-style fridge freezer was making an awful racket, and was frosting up. Making sure that the missus wasn't jamming so full that the internal vents could actually, vent, solved the problem.
Hope that sorts it. :)
