Suicide by train?

If this case proves to be so, how selfish can you get? Putting many lives at risk just because you want to end yours.

my dad did that.

he was the bloke no one thinks about, the train driver, he said he knew the bloke was going to jump, so he put his foot down.

no serioulsy, he just slammed on the anchors, but he alrady knoew what would happen, SPLAT, at 80mph a train takes just over a mile to stop

no.

he was driving a train through a station when some b jumped out in front

I would of thought if you did jump in front of a train then the only person who would be at risk is the one who jumped, i can't see a train being derailed by a jumper surely.

If he landed on the track . . . one side of the front bogie would get a bump.

not much left of them when they get hit by them. They tend to explode like a bag of water. funnily enough th head normally survives though. (picked a few up in my time) generally not much danger to the train, but as breezer says its the poor *******s driving that have to live with it.

A grim task indeed. I found a finger after an RTA once & that freaked me for a while. It's knowing that these parts should not be detached from the rest, and in the case of a head, that that was once a living breathing human being.

Suicide is a tragic waste isn't it?

Well you're the expert when it comes to RTA's 8) Sorry, that was below the belt!

Anyway, being in a car - at least the body wasn't strewn across the railway line. But there are better ways to commit suicide - jump off a bridge, walk into the sea, fill the car with fumes.

Now there'll be an invesgitation into this guy, the train, the set of circimstances leading to the crash, why nobody tried to get him out of the car, whether there were any faulty points that could have meant the train wasn't able to brake, the train driver will be scarred for life, the level xing will get a needless upgrade to fully gated and cctv monitored. All because one guy wanted the world to stop so he could get off. :(

*shakes head* Not when the police close the bridge for about 3 hours when the pillock decides he's had enough of life/wants some attention. This may seem harsh but if you are going to commit suicide don't inconvenience everyone else in the process.

Suicide in itself is utterly selfish regardless of the method used, whether it be the poor buggers who has to pick up your remains, the family you leave behind or the people stuck on the roundabout because the bridge is closed when they just want to pick up some supplies from TLC

there is a bridge in London called suicide bridge

The really sad part is that these people cannot see any other way out of their situation other than death.

The new Dartford Crossing (QE2 bridge for the northern folk   ) seems to very popular too.

Not sure if I would choose jumping. :(

As has been said, it is very selfish because no matter how you do it, some poor sod will find you.

But I think my choice would be an extremely large quantity of single malt + pills.

Not that I want to do away with myself...
