Sensible policies: Smoking banned for life

Does this ban include the smoking of cannabis?

Daft question I know, because it is already banned, although not enforced.

But as this proposed smoking ban is a lefty policy, and most lefties want cannabis legalised, would the proposed smoking ban clash with the proposed legalisation of cannabis?
Since it's illegal to sell cannabis already there would be no change.

It doesn't impact the legalisation of cannabis, you could mandate that it be sold as edibles after all. Plus smoking cannabis is less dangerous than smoking tobacco so the logic is still ok for banning one and allowing the other. Mixing tobacco and cannabis and smoking them as is common in the UK is probably the worst of both options.

How are they going to check peoples age? Will everyone in years to come who looks like they might have been born around that time or after be asked to provide ID? Or is it assumed it will be checked via national ID linked to all financial transactions people make?

Like shops & pubs check ages for people buying alcohol

We're already in a world where being IDd for alcohol is routine for people over the age of 25. In reality shops will be selling tobacco less and less frequently as time goes by so it won't be a huge deal.

Cannabis is illegal but the police don't enforce the law, and consequently we have to suffer the awful smell of the stuff regularly. If tobacco smoking were to be made illegal would the police enforce that law, or would they be as lax as they are with cannabis? OR would they police tobacco strictly whilst continuing to ignore cannabis offences?

Nonsense! Cannabis causes mental illness and has driven people to commit some of the the most depraved, violent crimes. Not for nothing is the word 'assassin' derived from the word hashish. I'm sure there is violence in the world of illegal tobacco, but I never heard of anyone going on a killing spree as a direct result of smoking ten Benson and Hedges.

It isn't safe, it's not Tofu.

But you might be missing just how dangerous tobacco is. It's really, really bad, so being 'safer' is very easily met.

Plus taking cannabis is pretty safe, its incredibly hard to overdose on it. There may be mental health impacts, but it's such a small effect it's hard to prove it exists.

Unlike alcohol for example where the links between death and committing some of the most depraved, violent crimes, and is involved around half of all violent crimes. Guess what proportion of violent crimes is linked with cannabis.
