Sensible policies: Smoking banned for life

smoking cannabis is less dangerous than smoking tobacco
Where did you get this rubbish from???
Plus taking cannabis is pretty safe, its incredibly hard to overdose on it. There may be mental health impacts, but it's such a small effect it's hard to prove it exists.
Small effect?!?!
I know people who are totally brainless because of cannabis use.
They're paranoid, can't put a sentence together and practically they act similarly to people with early dementia.
Tobacco use is very bad, but not as bad as cannabis.

Could you provide us with the relevant death figures from tobacco vis-a-vis cannabis?

Actually don't bother, I can help you out...

The number of deaths due to cannabis for the years 1993 - 2024

Conversely, deaths from tobacco related heart disease was (as of 2024 ) 40 a day...

Add in all the other tobacco related deaths and it was about 64,000 per year...

Puts it into perspective doesn't it :)

Tobacco leads to the early death of half it's users. Have half the cannabis users suffered psychosis or notable mental decline? Because we know they haven't died.

Some really silly stats being quoted here. We have decades of evidence on the effects of legal tobacco use and nowhere near as much on weed. But medical experts agree:

There are serious health risks from smoking cannabis. Many people who smoke cannabis also use tobacco, so the risks are in addition to the harm caused by smoking.

• None of the 7,000+ studies into cannabis have shown it to be safe.

• Cannabis contains more than 400 chemicals, including most toxins found in tobacco smoke but often in higher concentrations.

• People who smoke cannabis are likely to develop respiratory problems like tobacco smokers – cough, phlegm, chest colds and bronchitis.

• Half of regular users have pre-cancerous changes in the cells of the lungs.

• The risk of a heart attack is four times higher than usual in the hour after smoking cannabis.

• Cannabis is the most common illegal drug in the UK.

• Cannabis users are more likely to use other drugs, such as cocaine.

• Reaction times for skills such as driving are reduced by 41% after smoking one joint and by 63% after smoking two

any burned smoke inhalation is going to be bad.

Number of tobacco smokers is known via medical records.
Cannabis users don't declare it to their GP, in fact, GPs don't ask.
That's how you get those stats.

You don't know because of the same reason.

Nothing there says that it's worse than tobacco. Glad we agree. It's not safe, but tobacco is worse.

None* of the 7,000 studies into cannabis have shown it to be more dangerous than tobacco.

*Probably, I'm not going to check them all, but feel free to prove me wrong.
