Sensible policies: Smoking banned for life

Some really silly stats being quoted here. We have decades of evidence on the effects of legal tobacco use and nowhere near as much on weed. But medical experts agree:

There are serious health risks from smoking cannabis. Many people who smoke cannabis also use tobacco, so the risks are in addition to the harm caused by smoking.

• None of the 7,000+ studies into cannabis have shown it to be safe.

• Cannabis contains more than 400 chemicals, including most toxins found in tobacco smoke but often in higher concentrations.

• People who smoke cannabis are likely to develop respiratory problems like tobacco smokers – cough, phlegm, chest colds and bronchitis.

• Half of regular users have pre-cancerous changes in the cells of the lungs.

• The risk of a heart attack is four times higher than usual in the hour after smoking cannabis.

• Cannabis is the most common illegal drug in the UK.

• Cannabis users are more likely to use other drugs, such as cocaine.

• Reaction times for skills such as driving are reduced by 41% after smoking one joint and by 63% after smoking two

any burned smoke inhalation is going to be bad.
I see your leaflet refers to cannabis smoking.
Is there only one way to ingest cannabis then?
?

Number of tobacco smokers is known via medical records.
Cannabis users don't declare it to their GP, in fact, GPs don't ask.
That's how you get those stats.
Untrue...

"GPs estimate that over a quarter of their patients smoke, with nearly half of these patients lying about it"

And from a DirectLine survey...

"Interestingly, GPs and medical professionals are the people smokers and vapers most commonly misrepresent if or how much they smoke or vape to"

and at the same time make tobacco illegal? When you have seen the damage smoking weed causes?

applies to weed as well.
If weed were as dangerous as tobacco then yes, we should legislate about how we use it. But so far it doesn't seem to be and things like edibles avoid a huge part of the risks.

Plus we can start exploring it for medicinal use where, again, it's much safer than what it replaces.

Kids are all on vapes now. Let’s see it adjusted for that…..

My brother in law vapes.

He said that it's safe, as the vape liquids are all food-grade chemicals.

I told him that food-grade means via the gut, and not the lung.

Also, that if he blended up his Sunday lunch and inhaled it, he'd likely get pneumonia (if he hadn't choked first)

Did you think having more people smoke weed more often, is a desirable goal?

Some people try and ignore the fact that it can be ingested in other ways and that it serves a very useful (analgesic) medicinal purpose. They'd rather just compare it to and lump it in with smoking, as exploring its usefulness seems to frighten the ignorant.

yes we are discussing smoking anything that is burned and the damage it causes.

Indeed, we should legalise it and stop wasting money on policing it.
Maybe someone could come up with a tablet or a fluid with a dropper or some such and legalise that usage?
When you have seen the damage smoking weed causes?
Do you think that's the only way the benefits of cannabis can be ingested? You seem reluctant to say?
