If you completely slack the outer cable with the inner connected. Then position the lever to full throttle, then move the outer cable until the carb linkage just contacts the choke mechanism and tighten the outer cable clamp. When you've done that check that when you push the lever to choke position it operates it

Ok I got that.
Just advise about carb linkage just contacts choke mechanism.

Remember I fix my own tools but this is new to me.

When you operate the lever on the carb,as it opens the throttle fully see what moves the choke butterfly at the end if its travel

If you get nowhere with this one, bear in mind some Briggs engines had no throttle control.....the engine speed was set by the governor.
John

Yes I agree.

Just nice to have it running like the mower I took it from. There should be no reason why I can’t. It’s just me now having to set it up.

Thanks for tonight

Lost In The Light can i call you please.
I thought i did what you advised but i just get full rpm

Photos attached are ABC

This is what i have done.
Put throttle lever at HIGH "A", i then moved the outer cable "B" so the linkage just touched the choke linkage "C"
I then started the mower but rpm is really fast.

I then stopped the engine.
With the throttle leve at HIGH & moving the outer cable forward or backward i still get high rpm

Two hours playing with this and best I can do now is high revs.

Looking at my photos is there something I can bend to bring the revs down as nothing at all is doing what it’s supposed to do cable end wise.

And yes throttle lever still does nothing to revs when moved.

Yes I did but didn’t work.
Didn’t work in that still no control of revs when throttle moved.
So now at present I would assume it’s back to how I started.
High is revs & no control of throttle
