Mower cable replacement & set up from scratch

Somehow, allow that lever to move to the left so the choke butterfly can be fully closed - or very close to it.
John

So as you have seen that the choke comes on after full throttle would I be correct to say & do the following.

Throttle Lever at Hare.
Move lever so choke flaps comes into play.
Clamp cable up.

Then when using the mower have the throttle lever right back to Hare thus choke now on.

Run until warm & then move throttle lever off Hare a touch so then choke is off but should then be running nice.

Sounds good to me! There isn't a choke indicator on the new throttle though - not that it makes any difference here.
John :)

This is the best i can get it, What do you think, This is choke only.

When i operate throttle lever there is no movement on the part linked to throttle butterfly on top carb.
Is that because i havent installed the spring OR because engine isnt running as i see there is a linkage from it to governor arm from engine case.

VIDEO CLIP HERE

Personally I don't think that's enough choke to get a reliable start in cold conditions......can't really see what's left to adjust though!
You'll have to reinstate the spring to get throttle operation.
John :)

I drilled another hole to move throttle lever down the handle a touch to give me more at carb end.

So you say not enough do i just need to move outer casing left or right or do i need to start again

I seem to move it as far left as i can but its knowing where the outer cable is supposed to be.
I then do up the screw & it seems to go to position in video

Lever all the way to the left & this is how far the choke butterfly moves. This is its full travel / position.

So this is the outcome this morning.

Throttle lever right up in hare.
Pushed left all the way to the left so choke closes as much as it can.
Clamp up the cable.
Fit new spring to top of carb.

As I operate throttle lever & watch choke butterfly

With throttle lever right up on Hare I see choke 80% closed.

I move throttle lever towards tortoise & watch choke butterfly open up.

I do this a few times & all seems ok.

Mower has t been started now for about 3 weeks.
Throttle lever right back so choke is 80% on I pull the cord 3 times & it starts.
Leaving it like that for a minute or two it starts to have a splutter so I move lever so choke is off & engine now calms down.

It runs wells but maybe a little too fast.
Moving lever from this position all the way to tortoise to the point lever won’t go any further I still notice it’s running too
Fast.

I think maybe before in the summer when I want rpm increased it was because the cable fitted at that time wasn’t done correctly.

Now I’ve fitted cable to what I think is correct I need to bend the lever back to where it was.

Sound possible explanation ?

Will need to look up old posts to see what lever I had bent at that time.
