Only the other day Mrs Bod asked me to take her to work in the mornings 5 am because she is a little scared as there have been burglary's locally around this sort if time and some smashed car windows.

Yes of course I will. She goes on to say women feel so vulnerable now.

As much as I agree I said I'm so happy I have two girls And that I'd fear more for a son, because of knife crime.

I was too when when reading. No Parent deserves this.


My Aunti lives Thornton Heath and other family are from not far. Never liked Croydon. Not that I worry for them but it's is getting worse.

Domestic murder has always been prevalent, far too prevalent.
Education (including at home) should be better at addressing the respect of others decisions.

Girls are frequently brought up to believe they have the right to decide for themselves, as is absolutely correct.
But all too often boys do not get the education to respect other's decisions.

It has little to do with knife crime, albeit that knife crime is more publicised, and the weapon used was a knife.
In this instance any weapon, or even no weapon, would have been used.
It's far more to do with misoginy, sexism, and lack of education to combat such poor attitudes and prejudices.

I used to have a collection of weapons in work that I have taken off of students over the years - knives, a knuckleduster, cs gas and an extending cosh! We had to pour milk in one kids eyes when he was gassed by another kid from his local area that he had beef with and had come up to the workshop to attack him. It could have easily been acid.

In the 50's and 60's we'd carry a pen knfe in our pockets because it's what our Dads and Grandads did.
It depended on your vocation more than anything else, but that was never explained to us kids.
We'd happily play split the kipper or whatever it was called colloquially.

It happened I remember my brothers and his mates kitting out to fight the Potter Street lot. Bike chains nailed to wood spikes in wood.

All be it things did happen and you knew who the nutters where who had that extra screw loose.

On the whole it was like football hooliganism alot of it was hand bags.

My youngest witnessed an attack at Reading festival, by some "gangster" with a zombie knife. Fortunately it was so big he couldn't get it out of his pants in time. Security were on him pretty quick and I understood he was arrested.

The scum who do these acts should be locked up for life, perhaps then some of these kids will start to realise that acts of violence have consequences.

What I see every day on a lesser scale is the lack of respect adults have for those around us.

More the heart break is this young girl will never grow up to have children. The 17 year old has ruined his young life and both family's will be in bits for a long long time.
