I would have phoned the police as soon as I could smell the aroma. There's no mistaking that smell.

Correct it's a foul smell. Apparently they were complaining and they could smell the smell.

It's foul, but also a sweet, sickly smell. Once you have smelt it, it may be a very long time before you smell it again, but you will recognise it immediately. :-(

Who exactly is complaining that it was somebody else who didn't notice she'd died for all of that time.

I would dearly like to sit down & chat with them about their interactions with their own neighbours. We could start with "how do you think this is someone elses fault" & we could end up with "Do you actually know the persons name who lives 5'ft away from your home"?

Like the "family" who were in the media a few months ago, saying that the (council?) had let their relly down. Relly had lain dead for three years.

Some "family".

I recall a similar case some years back

Some lady died in her chair in front of the telley think she was there for 3 years ?? Afaik they made a film about it ?? She was in her 30s / 40s

No one missed her ? No bills were paid
No community charge

No work mates ??

Weird

That was my first thought when I heard of it. We've got the keys for four of our neighbours and their family contact numbers. If we hadn't seen them for a while, I’d either knock, go in or phone a family member. Last time I was sent over by Mrs Mottie to check on a neighbour, I had a pleasant surprise!

What got me is that the HA applied to have her money paid direct to them after it stopped.

Nobody in their organisation thought to stop for a second and ask of a tenant who pays rent regularly,

"Why did she stop paying? Is she OK?"

Was the telly still on?

Quite a regular occurrence for gas and electric workers to find a dead body on bailiff visits . Hence why the bills had not been paid
