Should there be a general election when Starmer gets booted?

That was true for the good, team-playing leader that Major was.

Starmer is an insecure nutter, who surrounds himself with heavies and picked his team specifically because they're stupid and obedient so won't answer back. He needs to be surrounded by people who agree with him at all costs, he can't cope with anything else.
If you follow gods of management he's gone from trying to be a Zeus to Dionysus in just a few months, He sees more comfortable with an Apollo leadership approach.

There's a barrister on YouTube who reckons that Starmer won't be able to burn the house down and call an election if that would serve as a threat to make the plebs do as they're told. He reckons that if there's another MP supported by the house then his request would be ignored.

I don't know - I listen to him as he's a barrister, but he is very anti-labour and I'm sure opinions differ among barristers...

I watched that - I think he's wrong, in the title. In the actual video he says something different.

He says can Starmer resign and call an election. But the question is can he call an election as PM.

PM asks the King, King does as he is told. Its a Yes

Yeah, that makes sense. So he could call an election before he gets officially booted, if he hears rumblings of mutiny.

Then presumably he's told them he will do this. But they'd all need to think he's mad enough to do it.

There again, he'd get a £115k a year tax-free pension and never need to work again. Not sure what an everyday MP or cabinet member gets, probably little or nothing. So perhaps it is a credible threat. Former PMs always look very sad as back-benchers, it must be a terrible climb-down for them.

Whether he calls an election or not, he's probably permanently destroyed the Labour party anyway, so his legacy doesn't really matter.

Some new clown will be along to rebirth it. There is no shortage of work shy wannabes who do f**all and become an MP.

It would be interesting to add up the genuine collective industrial work experience of the current cabinet.

Actually perhaps calling an election may be in the Labour party's long-term best interests? They haven't yet done badly enough to guarantee they'll never get voted in again. If they stay in power they probably will, after they bankrupt the country.

When the time comes, most likely the usual process will be followed, as when Theresa May took over from Cameron without an election, Boris Johnson took over from May without an election, Liz Truss took over from Johnson without an election, and Rishi Sunak took over from Truss without an election.

Farage owns the Reform company so didn't need an election to be its boss. It's a one-man, one-vote company, and he's the one man with the one vote.

The whole country is behind him, a few odd balls on here who arent isnt really concerning to him. If a general election was called now, who do you think would win?
