Smart meter

Mine are working fully, and we sometimes still see meter readers come round
The meter shows a permanent red light showing the transmission isn't working. The gas meter uses the same separate box. Bills also show estimated. Also recently received a letter telling us to have a smart meter fitted.Given the problems I had with having 2 electric and 2 gas meters and getting that changed to one of each they must know we already have one. I had to go through that to get the smart meter sorted out.

Getting a reading out of the gas meter. Nothing I have tried works even after phoning the supplier. ;) I should have asked the reader about that.

If you do not have recent bills to hand you can log-on to your account on the EDF website, Link is https://www.edfenergy.com/myaccount/login ;
On the 'Welcome' page in the Account 'box' (towards the bottom of the Web page) there is 3 menu 'boxes' - one is 'Bills and Payments',
Click in the box or on the '>';
in the new page scroll down to 'Account History/My Bills' Tabs; click on the 'My Bills' Tab.

You can now select the bills to cover the period your are concerned about. Scroll down the bills to the "Your Charges In Detail" pages, Copy or Photo and post on here - those are the ones we need to see to help you.

So then I've Analysed your relevant Bill

23-31 Dec

Electric 20.6 units @ 25.91pence per unit Average of 2.29 units per day

Gas 225.1 units @ 6.569pence per unit Average of 25.01 units per day

1-22 Jan

Electric 69.9 units @ 27.08pence per unit Average of 3.2 units per day

Gas 953.4 units @ 7.069pence per unit Average of 43.34 units per day

From January onwards the Gas consumption almost doubled, sorry but that is what the bill is showing.

Hi all anyone had this happen to them went on holiday for a month over Christmas. Turned everything off apart from freezer.c h boiler timer turned off.i have just had a bill for that period of 140 pound which is 10 pound dearer than my normal bill how is that possible I have a smart meter.edf said it must be right as it was from my smart meter reading .they have offered me 50 pound discount

My thoughts are that whilst you turned the CH Boiler 'Off' you didn't actually turn the actual heating off. I suspect when you turned the timer off so the heating was running 24 hours per day whilst you were away rather than putting the heating on to Frost protect which I/we believe was your intention.

No I have never used the timer I turn it on and off when I need it.an have never known the frost protection come on even when it's minus 6 outside as its sit

Situated in a sheltered position. And if that was the case the house would be warm when I came back but it was really cold
