As Holmslaw - the t&e has mechanical protection via its outer grey sheathing and the chance of movement when entering a flushed backbox is next to no chance.
I still wouldn't fit a backbox without a grommet but that doesn't mean they're always required.

Not in words.There were no instructions in that picture.
Try getting a socket outlet and a screwdriver and holding them exactly as shown in the picture.

The bloke in the picture has got two right hands.So its his left hand that's missing.
He's holding the screwdriver with his left hand - look where his index finger is in relation to his thumb.
The socket is held in his right hand.

ah I know this guy, he's missing his little finger on his left hand just below the knuckle ( the one closest the palm, not the finger tip end. )..
