I know you cant put sockets in kitchen units cos they are not classed as the fabric of the building. Does this count when there is an ireland in the middle of the kitchen that does not move?

Ireland is a country.

An Island is a piece of land surrounded by water. Also used to refer to kitchen cabinets surrounded on all 4 sides by floor.

Fasten the legs of the cabinets to the floor, then they are part of the building ;)

Alternatively, make everything on the island plug in to sockets on the floor underneath. Use ceeform sockets for this. A 13A fused spur for a couple of sockets, using a 16A ceeform, and a 63A ceeform for any cooker circuit. This technically makes the island portable and as such, not part of a fixed electrical installation. (any alterations to the wiring on the island also wouldn't come under part poo if i interpret this correctly)
