Soil vent leak in loft

Is there a rubber 'O ring' in the socket of the pipe coming up from below? Your description makes me think there isn't, hence why the pipe is loose. Tape will be adequate to seal it all up, the only moisture you may find in there would be steam from a hot bath or similar being discharged in colder weather, or any possible rain ingress.

That far bend still looks like you could have done it with an adjustable bend!

I think there was an O ring in the soil vent pipe but for some reason it didn't fit securely as the other connections.

I'll tape it up and monitor over the coming months.

I possibly could have used another adjustable bend but it probably would have involved a lot of fiddling about in the loft. I preferred assembling it all before going up there knowing the flexipipe would allow a fit there and then.
