...that they might have to pay windfall taxes.

Well!

Who could have seen that coming?

In unrelated news,

"Exxon profit triples to record $20bn amid furore over high petrol prices"

More unrelated news

"Shell profits more than double as oil and gas prices soar"

I often wonder where all those profits go . . . . .

"High gas prices help TotalEnergies shrug off $3.1bn Russia writedown"

"BP to buy back more shares after profit doubles to $8bn"

"ConocoPhillips becomes latest oil group to pass profit windfalls to shareholders"

"US oil producers reap $200bn windfall from Ukraine war price surge"

It's all bluster from the oil companies to keep their money.

At the end of the day they are heavily invested in the UK infrastructure they aren't just going to up sticks and go to Africa like they threaten. As long as the UK assets are making money then it's all good.

Africa is awful to do business with and there is much corruption, it's one reason why big oil and gas keep here African subsidiaries at arms length.

You mean the transfer of money out of the citizens pocket is good news.

One way of looking at it

So transfer of money from the oil company is also good news.

How do the oil companies transfer your money out of your pocket JohnD'ski???

Money transfers out of my pocket when I buy, for example, petrol.

Your level of ignorance and stupidity is greater than I thought.

Which is not easy.

P.s.
I see your anti-Polish prejudice is showing again.

You actually own personal transportation !!!

How many dolphins do you kill when you buy your petrol you dolphin murdering b@$t'ard.

Is your Marxist public transportation system not good enough for you? Do you have a problem sitting next to the proletariat????

If this country is to switch over to renewable green energy sooner rather than later perhaps a percentage of declared profits from oil companies can be used, say 25%.

Biggest transfer of wealth from the public to the multinationals in decades.
Joe Biden tried phone the Saudis to ask them to pump more oil in order to stabilise prices, they didn't even take his call.
It appears that the less they produce the more OPEC and its members earn because less oil on the market forces up prices.
Something wrong with this system.
