Intumescent hoods / fire rated downlightsare almost never required in domestic properties, as the vast majority of ceilings do not form part of a fire compartment.
I am not sure that is correct. When we built the house 30 years ago our ceilings had to provide "a modified half hour (15 minutes) of fire resistance" to ensure the joists did not burn before everyone could be evacuted from the house.
But even if modern building standards do not require a prolonged fire barrier at the ceiling it does makes sense to give your family the best protection.
There is a company that make indian curries that I pass a few times a week that is sited over the way from a sewage works. There curries are bloody fantastic.
