Hi chaps and chapesses, starting to get involved in the the world of doing it myself and wondered if I could bend your ear.

I have an under stairs cupboard with a wired into the mains light. The light has an existing switch which is a long way from the door. I want to set the light to come on automatically if I open the door. So I was thinking about getting hold of a switch which is sprung that I could mount onto the doorframe, I suppose a little like a soft closer kind of mechanism that you see on kitchen drawers. Can't seem to find one despite muchos searching and looking.

Any suggestions or I am the first person to come up with such a wonderful idea (!)

Its the "push to break" you want.

When door closed, circuit is broken.

Perhaps this can be wired in series with the normal switch so it can be disabled.

We had a thread about something similar to this a little while ago - with horrid results lol
