Stop Start Technology

The sales pitch in today's PC world is save the planet by reducing CO2, the use of less fuel is a secondary issue.
I got my new car for low VED and good mpg, yes, it's a diesel. Electric cars ?

To us in the UK maybe, but what about people in mining areas like Democratic Republic of Congo, we can't recycle the batteries here, we have to ship them abroad, maybe by boat, and they are high polluters .
No one recycles the batteries at this point, there aren't enough of them going out of use to be worth it. Given the expectation is that you can get up to 20 years out of the battery packs you might guess why they aren't being recycled yet.

However there's dozens of recycling plants in planning stages, they just need enough bulk to be worth building.

Why keep banging on with solutions with lots of problems down the line, get the generation and distribution of essentially limitless hydrogen sorted then we'll be in a good place.

ETA early to Mid decade last I heard for the first GW sized plants. Very useful for grid balancing.

Hydrogen Electric Vehicles are at least a decade behind EVs. Very expensive to build and run at the moment. They do have potential for HGVs but I doubt they'll take off for passenger cars.

Why? Are you still under the impression they have engines?

Reading that, I think they sort the Li Ion batteries, then export them for recycling, and if hydrogen vehicles are a decade away, are electric vehicles just an inconvenient stop gap ?
Nope, if you're not doing huge miles then they're more convenient than HEV (never visit a petrol station again!). They're always going to be cheaper to run than a HEV.
