Hi

We are planning to connect up our summerhouse soon and wondered if this kit is fine we are going to get it in place before the install:

Cable:
6mm 3core SWA 16m from summerhouse to inside wall of bungalow
6mm T&E 5m from SWA to bungalow consumer on a 40 amp MCB non rcd side
Extra 4mm earth wire for the T&E from adaptable box to CU of bugelow

SWA convert to T&E:
The cable will be joined with a Galvannised adaptable box using 60a block connectors or yellow butt crimps on inside wall of spare room. The extra 4mm earth is because the earth in T&E is 2.5mm

Summerhouse consumer:
A metal clad 4 way CU to take the swa
100amp DP switch
32amp RCBO for sockets
6A MCB for lights

Does this all sound fine? Thanks very much!

Aibo - you need an electrician to do the work - that was made absolutely clear to you the last time you asked about this project.

The questions you are asking here betoken so little experience that the fact you can't DIY this becomes even more apparent.

Please get an electrician to do the job.

What did your Local Authority Building Control say when you ran it past them? Or what did your electrician say if you are going down that route?

What type of earthing system do you currently have?

How are you going to test that the new circuits are electrically sound.

What have you done to sort out that mess of a CU you currently have in place? Last time you raised this issue there was no spare capacity.

This looks like a nightmare waiting to turn into reality

We are getting the consumer box replaced and tested the electrician is a qualified friend he said get the stuff in place and He will connect it up!

I am in no way wiring it just running cables and screwing back boxes etc in place.....

So it's just to confirm what I need really

The earth is via 2 earth rods in the house and bonded pipework (earth tags on central heating pipes)

Thanks but don't worry I'm only laying cable I won't be playing with the buzzy stuff lol

Then ask him to tell you what to get, not us.

It will be his signature on the EIC for design, not ours, so he has to be the one to do the design, not us.

Hopefully you are wrong, because if true, your current installation is unsafe and so is your design for the new summerhouse.

The tags on your CH pipes are to create an equipotential state across extraneous conductive parts which is different from earthing. Two earth rods are OK provided they are wired correctly and placed correctly with respect to one another.

You should not be selecting main electrical equipment on behalf on an electrician, friend or not. That is his job since he needs to provide his signature on the design, erection, inspection & test certificates. The main electrical items need to be chosen based upon technical requirements of your main supply, earthing arrangements and existing wiring.
