Texecom Exodus - keypad sounds - bell doesn't

Just done some more testing. If the intruder alarm is not set and smokes activate, the keypads sound, the external bell does not. If the intruder alarm is armed and the smokes sound - the keypads sound and the external bell DOES.

So do we only expect the external sounder to go off when smoke is detected if the system is armed??

Works on 168 in unset mode ….as before bells ring on then off …maybe it’s an issue with 640 software ? I had a couple of old non elite 640 panels but they have been swopped out now

what firmware, what area have you go things et for unarmed fire coms, and the smokes etc etc etc

Okay. So not working right then.
Am I correct setting the expander output to the bell as: Area, Bell SAB. Or should I be using ‘Area, Alarm’.

Elite 640 V6.02.02 LS1
All set to area 1B.
Screen shots attached if they help.

Comms issue solved after "unarmed fire coms" selected for area - so only remaining issue is that external bell does not sound when unarmed and smoke triggers, but they keypad does sound so system knows about it.

out of interest, if you use the keypad and go to expander setup (5), what area is the expander setup for?

Good question, that theory should be it follows the panels SAB programming if down as SAB.

you could attempt to do as a custom output, bell sab or fire alarm

How does it fair on the 640s pcb for the bell wiring?
not sure - haven't got a sounder on the panel and they are not close by - I have a spare I can hook up though

do you think this is the issue? would it explain bell when armed but no bell when not armed? I did set the area for the output.

does it sound different when it triggers when armed? ie different to normal bell activation.

Is that from the panels pcbs bell trigger or network output, I have a 168 in the office and know it works unsetwhen wired to the bell trigger on the pcb.

Think it’s one for JG at Texecom.
Sounds like something is a miss somewhere.

The only things I would do now is a power cycle and a default of reporting codes but doubt they would do anything as it’s reporting the fire okay just not sounding when unarmed.

Okay. Thanks. I have never posted on the Texecom forum. Do you suggest I just start a new thread and describe the issues and what we have explored ?

Are they friendly to enthusiastic amateurs over there or will I get abused for not being a pro installer.

a fair few on here are also there, John Gildert from Texecom is the reply your hoping for. Not many with 640's setup this way in the first instance.

Just focus on the problem you have, the firmware and pretty much all the details you have posted here.

ie programming and what you have tried, I would try the pcb first with the spare to see if that behaves unarmed or not so it should be a quick setup for john to confirmand with any luck he will have either a solution or refer it to be looked at.

Given my history on there I would just stick to the facts of what you have tried and nothing else.
