Who likes growing their own food ?

I asked the missus the other day, if she had been watering the strawberry plants (in pots, on our patio).

"No - they look after themselves, don't they?", she replied!



Of course they do, Love: they wait until we're all in bed, then turn the hose on by themselves

Can't grow onions, my winter and summer ones either bolted or got onion rot again this year.

It's the pints of booze before the (thankfully, very rare nowadays) appearance of the "carrots and onions" that I like

We do work for a fella who is the president (or what ever) of the local alotment society (?)

one time of day no one was interested ,now they have a massive waiting list for those who want an alotment

I love growing my own stuff but I hate eating it... Most veg makes me barff, I'm a meat eater. But I do love fruit, so have a garden full of fruit trees and bushes, though I do grow beans up the wall of the workshop and give them away. I have also a fair old collection of Orchids, folk give them to me when they think that they have killed them, I don't know what I do to them that is different but I manage to nurse them back to health... It must be a gift 'cos it is based on no hoticultural knowlege..

I planted a cherry tree last spring and it already has a couple of dozen cherries on it...

I started wine making, mainly to not waste the three trees' worth of apples that I get each year.
Twas a lovely drop, until I couldn't get the yeast any longer, so had to use a different sort....was never as good afterwards......
