The Yoga Thread

Same with those tough mudder assault courses -loads of ankle, wrist, back injuries.

Thats what happens when office wallers try and prove themselves at the weekend.
One of my directors tried to get me to do a team - building weekend assault course, and he ripped me for declining (I'd had a knee operation a year before - chronic football wound - and wasn't interested anyway).

He slipped on a wet log, and dislocated his knee.
He's walked with a limp and complained of pain every week since. Which was twenty years ago.
I know everything has risk, but trying to negotiate an assault course, on an unstable knee, wasn't in my assessment an unreasonable decision to make.

It would be silly to say that one fitness regime is better than another. There is no single ideal activity to suit all. However, ANY fitness activity has to be better than none at all.
A pain specialist is silly to say that pilates is better than yoga? Someone who treats all the injuries and has many yoga patients. I think actually he's perfectly entitled to give that advice, being a doctor and all... and nobody has to listen. It was his advice to me when I asked about using yoga to get stronger.

I don't think he or I said that any sport wouldn't be better than none at all.

You also have to trust your own judgement. We all know our own limits. Don't write Yoga off. Do your research there are some very good teachers who can give advice. There's many diffrent variations of yoga that may suit you more than others.

I trust the judgement of my doctor. I wouldn't want to make matters worse.

OK if he's an expert on yoga you would be foolish not to.
Bodd, I get you like yoga. Good for you.
It's not for everyone. OK, get it? Stop trying to tell me what to do! I trust a pain specialist doctor to look after me. I trust his judgement, his experience and his advice. I trust him a whole lot more than someone who makes money out of running classes. Yoga is a business.

Sorry I missed the part of your post that said "me".
That's because it wasn't there
Because it wasn't supposed to be.
The pain specialist said pilates is better than yoga, less injuries. From his personal experience as a doc and the people he treats.

End of.
You can keep your sarcasm. It doesn't work.
