Time to reform electoral process ?

(Parties that promise crackdowns on crime and immigration never fulfil their promises).
That's because those very same parties want to exacerbate inequality, which is a prime cause of petty crime.

I'm following what's happening in Canada and France.

A minority group of antivaxxer extremists, many of them foreign, damaging the nation.

"It is not clear how much support the protesters have across society. Among Canadians over the age of five, 82 per cent are fully vaccinated — one of the highest rates in the world. A recent poll by Abacus Data found that 87 per cent of Ottawa residents want the protesters gone."

So you agree that immigration is a prime cause of petty crime? What's your understanding of petty crime? Pickpocketing, theft from shops, theft from motor vehicles? Please explain.

yes, a small number of antivaxxer extremists are trying to damage the health of the nation by pushing their false stories and abusing health professionals and citizens needing to have protection against a potentially severe or fatal illness.

What led you to prefer the option giving the greatest risk of severe illness or death?

They also attract anti gov types as well in large numbers. France had demo's that were down to the cost of living in Paris so those join in and others. It's much the same the world over. Several countries are having similar problems. I saw a clip of a German demo - all / most seem to be wearing masks. Rather weird but not sure of their current rules.

 An interesting idea would be to use vaccine uptake as a sort of referendum and pass laws to make people comply. Or why not hold a referendum. The Swiss seem to have got that down to a fine art.

hard fought for freedoms and all that.
That’s just nonsense. They need you to vote more than you need to.
Can’t be ar$ed is a good enough reason when every one of them is an out of touch self serving scumbag.
And what does what happens in other countries have to do with anything?

It's not nonsense. A lot of freedoms we enjoy today were hard fought for at some point in history. Or do you think they weren't?

Whilst I completely agree many politicians, especially those at the top tier, leave a lot to be desired, you can't assert every single one is a self serving scumbag. There are many politicians at local level that serve their constituents well.

What do other countries have to do with it? Well, if we all thought in the UK that voting was a complete waste of time and simply stopped voting, we might at some point in the future end up with a political system more aligned to some of those countries. Be careful what you wish for and all that.
