I only gamble what I can afford to lose. I wouldn’t gamble anything if I was living on a so-called subsistence allowance.I would be surprised if you didn't have a small amount available to spend on gambling if you really wanted to.

You might want to look at a chart.I would be happy to give pushback a try. But I think a major problem might be the opposition from the France and the rest of the EU. It is very different to push boats back into the open sea, like Greece does, than it is to push them back into another country's waters. It would certainly be interesting to see what happens. Obviously, as long as nobody is put in danger.

Numbers seemed to suggest it was workingThis was one of the Tory plans. They thought that by refusing to process any asylum applications from boat people, it would be a deterrent.

People who wrongly blame Brexit, refer to the Dublin agreement. But if you look at the numbers it wasn’t great for the U.K.I want to ask a question about pre-Brexit because I can't remember what the rules were. If somebody had got into the EU illegally, what would have stopped them travelling to the UK on a plane and then claiming asylum.

I don’t recall saying that.It was actually you who first made the point on the previous long thread that the Greece situation was different because they were pushing back into international waters. Is that not the case.

Ultimately the Dublin agreement was put in place to allow people to be sent back who’d arrived from another EU country. My question was about something totally different!
If your question is why couldn’t they get on a plane and fly to the U.K. We were never part of the Schengen agreement. So the airline would require ID etc. or get fined.

The Greek situation is different because they have additional obligations under EU rules.
If you look at the wiggly lines on filly’s chart it shows the overlapping territorial waters.
I'm not excusing their behaviour. You cynically inferred (poor) gambling addicts have "money left over" to gamble with. The truth is that they would use their last penny to gamble with, even if it meant going hungry.I brought nothing up about addicts. Stop excusing their behaviour.
I buy a lottery ticket or have a family flutter on the Grand National. Mottie and me gamble sensibly.I only gamble what I can afford to lose.
Do we have good, checkable intel on the Syrian, Eritrean, Afghani or any war torn countries law records on those that are allegedly fleeing persecution then?Actually, no it wouldn't, my position is that they should apply to come here like anyone else and any criminal record will be exposed beforehand.
