Tory party to change back to imperial measurements

All a load of baloney imo

There has always been a mix of metric and imperial measurements in the UK

As a useful aside, keeping an undercurrent of being savvy in imperial measures means that, if ever we get invaded by the scoundrels, it'll be an easy way to catch them out ;)

Think Gordon Jackson, in the Great Escape ;)

How do you earn a living? Does the modern plumbing idustry work in metric yet? Surely that's important to you and not baloney?

Never said it did not

All I said was that there has always been a mix of imperial and metric measurements in the UK

Don’t see what all the fuss is about tbh

Afaik the US have never adopted the metric system ???

Dunno about there current cars but ? But the thread size / pitch on fasteners are not metric on cars from the 80s

BHP is still used for engine power in the UK
The metric equivalent means nowt to me

Speedos read in MPH

Speed signs on the road read MPH

Efficiency of cars are always expressed in miles to the gallon

Ect ect

Some dickhead, out of touch politician, thought that Brexit gave the UK a unique opportunity to revert back to Imperial measurements. Could you imagine ordering your copper in Imperial again. FFS.

Who cares

The imperial measurements are still used in every day life and have never gone away

And in many cases has been used hand in hand with the metric system

Dare say you have never noticed noseall

No surprise tbh

Actually a lot of the US does use the metric system, not by choice but because they are forced to.

Bought a set of wheels recently

15 inch X 8 inch

That is how they were sold and advertised by the wheel company / manufacturer

Got caught speeding years ago
37 mph in a 30 mph area

Nonsense. They are distinct and different. Cumulatively it can have massive repercussions. It was the stupidest Brexiteer proposal ever put before the British public.

Probably due to exports which is understandable

One first US or the first US car companies that used and badged there car engine size was Pontiac with the Transam model in the 70s

Engine size was designated 6.6 as opposed to 400 cubic inches and badged as such

You dunno what you are talking about
And as per usual talk nonsense

Open yer eyes

Best you get onto yer local counsel about the speed limit signs in your area

And have you ever bothered to actually under stand your car / van Speedo ??

Do you even know what 15mm is in imperial? Or 3m?

Thought not.

Got a brand new tyre here

Stamped with the number 16

Obviously that would cause you some confusion noseall as to what 16 means or refers to

No surprise tbh :ROFLMAO:
