Totally predictable: Trump discusses giving land to Russia

What would your fantasy task force consist of?

Overwhelming NATO air power to support Ukraine's troops. Russia's weapons have been shown to be pretty rubbish, not just in Ukraine but in the Middle East as well. It would be over in a couple of weeks.

Yeah right

Yeah right

The only reason Ukraine can't make progress is because they don't have air superiority. The US and Europe between them could easily provide that. It would all be over very quickly. With minimal risk to the pilots. That is the way to win this with very little risk.

Stick to subjects you understand and dont preach to me about how easily this could be done.

We do indeed have air superiority but Ukraine doesnt, it wouldn't be as simple or easy as you make out though. Any NATO intervention would mean fighting on the ground, air superiority wouldn't make such a difference against hypersonic interbalistic missiles that Russia could unleash.

this 'breaking news' sounds a little positve

President Trump's talks with Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.

Putin agreed to allow the US to provide Ukraine with "robust security guarantees that I would describe as game-changing," Witkoff tells CNN.

"We got to an agreement that the United States and other European nations could effectively offer Article 5-like language to cover a security guarantee," in reference to the critical Nato provision.

  • For context: Article 5 of the Nato agreement states that an armed attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all members
Putin staunchly opposes Ukraine joining Nato, and Witkoff says this arrangement could be an alternative if "the Ukrainians could live with that".

Witkoff also says the US had a good, granular conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky on the plane ride home from Alaska, and believes Monday's meeting in Washington would be productive.
