Trump home raided

i said he had the power to do it while president not that he did
It seems under USA law the president can't always do that. Depends how they are classified. It also seems that there should be signs of declassification anyway but there isn't any.

Certain documents can only be viewed in secure gov locations - sounds like he has fallen foul of that as well.

The FBI has a problem. Laws appear to have been broken so they are obliged to investigate. No one has a clue as to what would happen if he is found guilty as he was president. On the face of it he should be prosecuted. It seems lesser people are at times.

Trump is a good illustration of how a politician can stir up populations. His main sound bite "America First". Thow in lots of other flannel and it works. I mean according to many Americans the election was rigged. They believe it.

LOL Makes me think of "Take Back Control" and "Get Brexit Done". It seems 3 word ones can be more effective.

They can only serve two terms dummy. If your man is still pres' than he's done in 2024.
Wait for it...he will win the 2024 election fair and square, and then someone will demand a recount of the 2020 election, from which it will be found that he did actually win in 2020 and therefore cannot be Prez in 2024.

Trump lost fair and square in 2020

what you think they would have read all the documents there and then of course they too them away .
and who said it was declassified ? i said he had the power to do it while president not that he did
It's written on the covers and on every single page. They are marked up to make it blatantly clear that what you're handling is sensitive.

And clearly the FBI did read enough to find the documents marked SCI.

What is also worth noting is that Trump was given a subpoena to hand over any classified content he still had and any documents covered by the various document retention rules a few months ago. He handed some stuff over and claimed that was it.

yeah ok if someone writes on the top of a document recipe for madeira cake they would automatically believe that is what it is without reading through it . No they will have just lifted everything on mass to be read and checked through later .
Claimed that was it really so when months before hand he said take what you want its all there they said no keep them in that room but use this special lock , why didnt they just take everything there and then and put it in to their own secure storage

Why did he not hand over all the documents he stole from the White House when they came the first time? The obvious answer is that he saw a dollar value in the stuff he kept. The fat orange tw4t is on his way to federal prison.(y)

Trump won’t end up in prison

Load of fuss over nowt with this document caper

Trump will be returned for another term

Tis the way it will be

For anything with an official impact level printed on it, of course they didn't read it there. They probably weren't cleared for it themselves.

For all the stuff that's just in unmarked boxes they'll have skimmed it to see if it's potentially sensitive and taken it back to review.

But they had multiple boxes with known secure markings on them. That's a big deal.

Very savvy move by the justice department. Sounds like they cast a wide net. Didn't they get a phone or two into the bargain? Expect Trumps lackeys to be furiously deleting a lot of stuff as we speak.

what bit are you struggling with that the fbi said keep them but use this special lock on the door ? The question you should be asking is why did the fbi not take them there and then if they thought they were a matter of national security instead of leaving it a couple of months

No President can arbitrarily declassify a top secret document. Besides, any documents he would wish to declassify, he cannot do retrospectively on a whim, especially those that are packaged as classified. There is a process that occurs with classified documents that has to happen before they are officially removed, in order to declassify them. Trump cant walk out of a building with such documents and decide they are declassified as he walks across a zebra crossing.
So basically, what I said!

There's different levels of sensitivity. There's probably a lot of documents that Trump can store at home, but that it needs to be in a secure room or safe. SCI content needs to be in a very big safe. A guarded big safe.

Trump had claimed he'd returned all the highly sensitive stuff, in which case the low sensitivity stuff just needed a better lock. They also didn't have the needed authorisation to take any boxes previously, if Trump refused they couldn't force the matter. They needed a search warrant signed by a judge.

It's not a contradiction.
