Hi,
I have a small machine which runs off 240v but I have no idea of the wattage of its motor of which I need to know.

Can I check this somehow by using the British Gas energy meter, this is the small screen that you plug in the mains to check how much certain things are costing to run.
This just popped into my head but not sure if it’s even possible to get my answer this way.
Please advise thanks.

what is it ?
does it have a ratings plate
does it have a fuse
picture may help

It’s a small key cutting machine.
I don’t see any spec plate on it hence this post.

It runs from a 12v internal battery BUT there is a laptop type charger which I connect to the cutter & then 240v mains, it can also run when this charger is connected.

Will it help if I get the info from the charger ?

i would suspect less than 1amp at 230v
yes get the charger output and at 12v say 6amps assuming really really inneficient[50%] is only 60w at 240v

230vx1 amp =230w
12vx19amp =228w
so 6amp will be 30% ish at 240 v =76w plus loses perhaps 100w

Attached is the label from the charger.

to keep it simple
amps at 12v x15=watts at 230v this allows for a small bit off loss
so 8x15= so 120w at 230v
although it does say 1.2 ah so you must assume 276w although thats more likly to be at120v but allow 300w any way at 230v

Not being rude but assume the person who’s reading this isn’t an electronics person.

I can’t decipher this.
Just need a value of which is close in Watts.
