Vaillant diverter valve Improved design?

And no u wouldn't get any unexpected water because of my method
If also charge quite a bit more than £216inc vat to supply and fit one of these Diverter valves.
My boiler servicing starts from £70+vat dependant on location and boiler model

Well my plan was to close the TRV's/valves on the all the radiators as I would expect less drainage and unexpected water flow that way. I would imagine cycling the diverter valve by hand helps to make sure you drain both heat exchangers otherwise I'm guessing they could p!ss water out when you remove the diverter valve.

its not going to be straight forward as you think . whats the point of coming on here asking for advice when your not taking it . for starters you have no clue emptying the system , you will have fun with water and possibly cost you loads more money you will need a dam more than a service to put right . if you make a dogs dinner of repair the rgi will know and charge accordingly . can't you see it would probably be cheaper in long run to get rgi in first place . just a suggestion

I haven't quite decided yet. My boiler is boxed in in a cupboard in the kitchen. To get to the boiler pipework where the drain cocks are means removing a tiled boxed in section below the boiler. It is removable but I'll have to re-grout it back in afterwards. If I just drain the downstairs radiator that's not going to empty the boiler much is it?

OK then. Try being helpful for once. How would you suggest I drain the system down?

nice try , there no telling some people sometimes . have you any information regarding boiler , as you have such a important job within engineering you should be able to obtain info on products . i am not wishing to take the p--s personally but please stop fishing people can't give advice in your circumstances .

I'm willing to listen to advice. I just can't be doing with people trying to shoot me down because I'm doing the work myself. At the end of the day I know the risks and I'm old enough and ugly to make up my own mind.

Its an Ecotec plus 824 VUW GB 246/3-5.

Has the burner seal been done lately ?? And the reason people use specialists is if we diagnose wrong,(as it sounds you have) we carry the cost , as you will

I'm pretty confident it's the diverter valve. It's been playing up for months now but I always thought it was the shower. As soon as I started playing with the diverter valve I started getting full temp DHW with no diversion into the CH system.

It worked properly for a day then started diverting into the CH system again. Again I played with the diverter valve and I've had a nice hot shower for the last 2 mornings. If it's not the diverter valve then why does manually actuating it combined with cycling the DHW and CH make everything start functioning correctly again?

It wouldn't have been changed recently. I am planning on getting the boiler serviced as it is overdue. I will ensure it is changed.

Did u hook the motor spindke back on the hook and eye ball joint ok?

I've said this a few times now

Did u hook the motor spindke back on the hook and eye ball joint ok?

Yes definitely. I adjusted the motor as far back as possible whilst still being able to latch it back onto the plunger to make sure it was pulling the plunger as far back as possible.
