what year and size of engine? Is the immobilizer light flashing rapidly on the dash when cranking, if so it's the immobilizer. if not could be crank sensor needs cleaning. Have you check if there's fuel a the injectors?

I assume that any damage to the engine was repaired before the new belt was fitted.

Presumably whoever repaired it started so under what circumstances would it not start?

Does it have an in tank fuel pump, if so can you hear it running for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on?
