It seems strange to me that I can use a Barclays debit card to buy stamps at a post office, but if I want to buy euros (at post office) this will generate a charge payable to Barclays. Now I understand there are charges for credit cards and charges when you uses debit cards abroad. But why does this charge apply to euros when bought from a post office in uk and Barclays have not handled any of the euros ? If i used my debit card in barclays to buy euros the charge dont apply?
I tried asking them but they dont seem to know .
With thanks to post office lady for pointing this out

apologies if this has been done before

You can withdraw cash on a debit card at the Post Office. Withdraw cash and buy your Euros.
